Why is business considered as an economic activity?

Economic activities are those by which we can earn our livelihood, whereas, non-economic activities are performed out of love, sympathy, sentiment, patriotism, etc.

Economic activities may be further divided into three categories, namely business, profession and employment.

Business is considered to be an economic activity because it is undertaken to earn money or livelihood and not out any emotion. It may be mentioned here that this activity can be undertaken either on a small and individual level, on a large scale in a more formal and organized level.
