(a) The gamete present in ‘X’, i.e., ovary if taken from a new born baby is primary oocytes. These primary oocytes will be arrested in prophase I of the meiosis I. They remain in this stage till puberty. Before reaching puberty, many of them degenerate.


(b) ‘Y’ is fimbriae. They are finger-like projections. Their function is to collect ovum after ovulation.


(c) ‘Z’ is Isthmus. It is last part of oviduct. Isthmus has narrow lumen and it joins the uterus. The motile sperm and ovum from ovary reaches here and fertilization takes place in this region.
