Besides acting as ‘conduits’ for energy transfer across trophic levels, predators play other important roles. Justify.

Predator is an animal that hunts other animals also called as prey for its survival. Some of the examples are lion, tiger, wolf and bear etc. but besides acting as ‘conduits’ for energy transfer across trophic levels, predators play other important roles which are as follows:

1. They keep the prey population in check.

2. If predators would not hunt, population of a certain species would increase which would cause an imbalance in the ecosystem.
