The role of the political parties is explained below:
● Parties contest election: The different political parties of the candidate to fight for elections. This candidate is chosen in different ways. In India, the top party leader chooses the candidate for contesting elections.
● Parties put forward different policies and programs: The parties put forward different policies and programs and the voters choose from them. In a vast democracy, a large number of similar opinions by the vast majority of the society are grouped to provide the direction in which the policies of the government can be formulated.
● Parties make laws: The laws are debated and passed in the parliament. Most of the members follow the opinion of the majority of the party irrespective of personal opinion.
● Parties run the government: The Parties recruit leaders, train them and make the ministers run the government in the way they want.
● Role of opposition: The losing party plays the role of opposition by voicing different views and criticizing the government for its failures.
● Parties shape public opinion: They race and highlight important issues. They have many pressure groups and activists all over the country. They also launch different movements.
