What is meant by ‘Two Nation Theory’?

Two -nation theory was the basis for the partition of India in 1947 or in another word it was the basis of the creation of Pakistan. This theory supported the proposal that Muslims and non Muslims should be two separate nations. The two nation theory means the cultural, political, religious, economic and social dissimilarities between the two major communities, Hindus and Muslims of the Sub Continent. Two -nation theory was presented by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan due to Hindu-Urdu Controversy in 1867. It was initiated by M.A. Jinnah in 1940. According to this theory Hindu and Muslim are completely two nations from every point of view. Hindu and Muslim have different languages, different histories, Hindu worship cows but Muslim eat cow. Muslims should be able to have their own separate homeland in Muslim majority areas of India, in which Islam can be practiced as the dominant religion.
