How the state of Hyderabad did became a part of the Indian Union after partition?

Hyderabad state also known as Hyderabad Deccan, was an Indian princely state located in the south-central region of India with its capital at the city of Hyderabad. At the time of independence Hyderabad was ruled by Asaf Jah dynasty. Due to Nizam’s inclination towards Jinnah’s he wanted Hyderabad either to be a part of Pakistan or an independent state. However the governor general of erstwhile British India Lord Mountbatten was not in its favour and even congress opposed this idea. In September 1948 India launched “operation Polo” to contain Razak’s atrocities and overthrew its Nizam, annexing the state merged into the Indian union.

Hyderabad state was a state in Independent India, formed after the accession of princely state of Hyderabad into the Indian Union on 17 September 1948.
