In a permanent magnet at room temperature
In a room temperature, a permanent magnet acts as a ferromagnetic material whose domains are aligned in the same direction. Domain is an aspect of ferromagnetic materials in which the electrons have same magnetic orientation. After keeping the permanent magnet in a room temperature for a long time individual atoms align themselves in same direction and due to same magnetic orientation, it forms a dipole, which has a working north and south pole. Some examples of room temperature, ferromagnetic material that can change to permanent magnet are iron, nickel, cobalt and gadolinium.
