Our land has a great biological diversity, If there were any vast areas then those areas now have been reserved for the preservation and protection of flora and fauna of the country and to maintain it in their natural form, so these areas are called bio-reserves and there are around fourteen bio-reserves have been set up by the government to protect the nature. In these bio-reserves plants and animals are protected for future and from any kind of harm. The very first biosphere in India was set up at Nilgiri covering an area of 5500 sq. km. And the other one was setup at Nanda Devi Uttarakhand.
Main features of the bio-reserve are:
(i) These reserves are set up by government to protect the flora and fauna in their natural form.
(ii) For other products and experiments or research in the forests the surrounding zone is utilized.
(iii) For agriculture research and development the periphery is used.
