Given: a₈ = 17

a₁₄ = 29

To find: common difference = d

Consider a₈ = 17

⇒ a + 7d = 17 …………….(1)

Consider a₁₄ = 29

⇒ a + 13d = 29 …………….(2)

Subtracting equation (1) from equation (2), we get,

6d = 12

⇒ d = 2

∴ Common difference = 2
