Clearly, In ∆ ADE,


DE = 5 m


AD = 12 m


Also, ADE = 90° [ Both the poles stand vertically upright]


By applying Pythagoras theorem, we have


AE2 = AD2 + DE2


AE2 = (12)2 + (5)2 = 144 + 25 = 169


AE = √169 = 13 m
