When and where do we see a rainbow? How is a rainbow formed? Draw a labelled diagram to illustrate the formation of a rainbow.
Rainbow is defined as the natural phenomenon in which due to dispersion of white light, an arch of seven colors is formed.
We see rainbow in the sky only after rainfall due to dispersion of sunlight by the tiny water droplets of rain present in the atmosphere. The water droplets act like small prisms. The rain drops are refracted, dispersed and reflected internally and then refracted again. Due to these phenomena’s, we see a rainbow in the sky after rainfall.
