Although wood has a very high calorific value, we still discourage its use as a fuel. Explain.

Though wood has a high calorific value, still it is not considered as a fuel because of the following reasons:

1) Burning of wood produces a lot of smoke which leads to pollution and is also harmful to the living beings.

2) Cutting down of wood leads to deforestation which in turn affects the environment.

3) Wood also has a very low calorific value.
