Why are plastids able to make their own proteins?

Plastids contain their own DNA, ribosome and all the enzymes that are required for protein synthesis.

Plastids are of different types. The diagram shows the different type of plastids:

Out of all these, majorly proteinoplast are responsible for storing & the modification of the proteins.

Each plastid contain plastomes, which contain 100’s of gene molecules (rNA & tNA) and proteins.
