Why are plastids able to make their own proteins?
• Plastids contain their own DNA, ribosome and all the enzymes that are required for protein synthesis.
• Plastids are of different types. The diagram shows the different type of plastids:
•
Out of all these, majorly proteinoplast are responsible for storing & the modification of the proteins.
• Each plastid contain plastomes, which contain 100’s of gene molecules (rNA & tNA) and proteins.
