The states in which Sabarmati, Mahi, Bharatpuzha and Periyar rivers drain the water?


Sabarmati River flows is a west-flowing river. It originates in the Aravalli Range of the Udaipur District of Rajasthan and meets the Gulf of Cambay before entering the Arabian Sea. The total travelling length of the river is 371 km in a south-westerly direction. It flows for 48 km in Rajasthan and 323 km in Gujarat.

Mahi River is also a west-flowing river and rises in Madhya Pradesh. After flowing through the Vagad region of Rajasthan, it enters Gujarat and meets the Gulf of Khambhat before flowing into the Arabian Sea. The length of the river is 580 km.


Bharathapuzha River is also known as the River Nila. It flows in the Indian state of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The length of the river is 209 km. it is the second longest river in Kerala. The word "Nila" indicates the culture more than just a river. It also makes Bharathapuzha basin which also lies in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.


Periyar River is the longest river of Kerala. Besides Kerala, it also flows in Tamil Nadu. It is one of the few perennial rivers of the peninsular plateau. The length of the river is 244 km. It is also named as “Lifeline of Kerala” as it supports a rich fishery, water for irrigation and domestic use in Kerala.
