What were the limitations of handwritten manuscripts in India? Explain.
The limitations of handwritten manuscripts in medieval India were:
1. The handwriting on the manuscripts varied, and as a result, were difficult to read.
2. The manuscripts were written mostly on palm leaves, which were susceptible to pest-induced damage.
3. The writers/ scribes often introduced minute changes in the scripts as they were written. These changes developed into significant connotation differences later on.
Hence, handwritten manuscripts posed a problem for the Indians.
