Write two differences between respiration in plants and animal.

Cellular respiration occurs in the mitochondria in both animals and plants. The sugars in both plants and animals are oxidized creating energy.

The only difference in respiration is that plants create their own sugars to be oxidized for energy. Animals must get their sugars from autotrophs or plant.

Respiration in plants can also proceed in a manner that produces neither metabolic energy nor carbon skeletons, but heat. This type of respiration involves the cyanide-resistant, alternative oxidase; it is unique to plants, and resides in the mitochondria.
