The Government of India gives holidays for the festivals of most of the religions. Why is it so? Give your viewpoint.

1. The holidays are granted for most of the religious festivals because India is a secular country and it cannot promote just one religion. Hence holidays are granted for Hindu, Muslim-Sikh, Christian etc. festivals.

2. For private schools, it is not mandatory, but even they practice because they too promote secularism, but for Government schools, it is mandatory to grant holidays for most religious festivals.
