(a) The type of gametes shown in the diagram are isogametes or homogametes of the alga Cladophora. Isogametes are similar in appearance and are morphologically similar to one another. They can’t be distinguished into male and female. This process is also called syngamy.


(b) The process taking place is Fertilisation which is defined as the fusion of two haploid gametes, male and female gamete, which leads to the formation of a diploid zygote.


The resultant structure in the diagram after the fusion of two isogametes is referred to as a zygote.


(c) An organism that reproduces in this manner is an alga named Cladophora.
