Give reasons for the following observations: The smell of hot sizzling food reaches you several meters away but to get the smell from cold food, you have to go close.

Particles of Matter are constantly moving. As the temperature rises the particles move faster which boost the process of diffusion which is responsible for intermixing of particles of two different types . This means that smell particle are moving and diffusing faster in air as compared to colder food due to this the smell of hot sizzling food reaches us faster than cold food.
