Suggest a few criteria to be kept in mind while choosing a life partner. Discuss this based on Suzanne's attitude towards her suitors.
Marriages are said to be made in heaven. A bond between two people, tied to each other with love, compassion, empathy, and lots of understanding. The criteria that Suzanne Brouette puts forward for choosing her life partner was based on her vague idea of courtship, which according to her required being boastful and unreal, rather than pure and grounded essentials of a marriage.
Suzanne, instead of looking for love, demanded artificiality- something that acting is known for. Love should be the first criteria anyone should be looking for in a marriage, because it forms the basis of marriage. Another important criteria is good understanding that a marriage shall hold in order to survive. Suzanne, contrary to this, put her focus on getting rid of the constant courting insinuations that she had been receiving from Robichon and Quinquart, and decided to get married. Trust also builds the foundation of marriage, but Suzanne showed the exact opposite. From the very beginning, she flirted with both Robichon and Quinquart, and later 'settled' for the latter, not by choice, but to keep her words. Compassion, empathy, compatibility, all these are the basic criteria and requirement for marriage, but a person who herself lack these qualities cannot think of such highly things, and that's what Suzanne did.
