During freedom movement, there was mass participation. All the section of the society participated in the freedom struggle including educated, rural people, farmers, students, women etc.

Women participation also increased slowly. They assisted in several movements and even held important positions in the movements. Leaders like Gandhiji too emphasized upon women participation.

As a result, after Independence women were given equal rights at par men. The pre-existed discrimination was ended
