(b) Clear rills are the water, river, and streams that are the major source of water and are very necessary for mankind to continue all forms of life on the earth. And their beautiful sight gives us a cooling effect.


(c) The mid forest brake refers to the thick forest undergrowth which becomes rich by the blooming of rose flowers and musk in between the mid forest brake.


(d) The figure of speech used is Alliteration used in Cooling Covert. Alliteration is a figure of speech used when there is an occurrence of the same letter or sound at the beginning of adjacent or closely connected words.

Stephen Spender was an English poet and an essayist. He wrote on themes of social injustice and class inequalities.


(b) In the poem above, the slag heap refers to the bodies of children which look like heaps of garbage.


(c) The children live in dirty and unhygienic surroundings. They live in miserable conditions, and their future seems foggy. This means that their present conditions do not point towards a bright future and they may end up living in similar conditions lifelong.


(d) Simile is used in these lines. While comparing two things if words such as 'like' or 'as' is used then it is called simile.
