The 11th and 12th schedule was added to the constitution.


The 11th Schedule of the Indian Constitution was added in 1992 by the 73rd Constitution Amendment Act. This schedule contains 29 subjects. Twelfth Schedule was added by the 74th Amendment Act of 1992.

The reasons for adding the schedules are:


1. Introducing Rural Local Self Government and Urban Local Self Government.


2. Democratic Decentralisation


3. Chance for citizens to get involved directly in their own governance.
