Write a note on biogas.

It is a non-conventional source of energy. It is produced using organic waste, plant and animal waste and kitchen waste in biogas digesters. It is a renewable source of energy.

The major source of biogas generation is organic waste such as dead plant and animal material, animal dung and kitchen waste. They are converted into a gaseous fuel called biogas by the decomposition of waster by bacteria in biogas digesters. From this biogas is emitted which is a mixture of methane and carbon dioxide.

Biogas is an excellent energy source for domestic purposes, especially for cooking and lighting. It also produces a huge amount of organic manure each year.
