Why are too much care and attention required for the adolescent population?

Adolescent population constitutes one-fifth of the total population of India. Adolescents are, generally, grouped in the age group of 10 to 19 years. They require too much attention and care due to the foll reasons:

1. They are the most important resources for the future.

2. Nutrition requirement of this group is higher than other groups.

3. Poor nutrition can lead to deficiency and stunting which may affect their productivity in the future.

4. A large number of adolescent girls suffer from anaemia. Their problems have not received sufficient attention.
