Is there any relation between the intensity of waves and the wave length? Substantiate.

Sea waves are the up and down water motions near the water surface of the sea. A wave is composed of several parts-

• Wave Crest – the summit or top most point of the wave.

• Trough – the bottom part of the wave.

• Wave length – the horizontal distance between two crests.

• Wave height – the vertical distance between the crest and the trough.

From the diagram, it is evident that wave length influences the intensity of waves. With shorter length, the height of the waves will increase which will thus, increase the intensity of the waves and vice versa.
