What should be the basic outcome of democracy?

The basic outcome of democracy should be the following:

Accountability:


i. Democracy should allow the people of the country to choose their leaders, among the various candidates in an election.


ii. If the elected leaders are not working according to the wishes of the people, the people can remove them.


iii. The citizens participate in the decision-making process. This concept in a democracy is called transparency.


iv. Democracy produces a government that is accountable to the people.


Responsiveness :


i. The people choose their leaders in an election.


ii. The issues of the people are duly attended by their leaders and their demands are catered to.


iii. Democracy produces a responsive government because it responds to the needs and demands of the people.
