Q1 of 40 Page 2

What is the main reason for the difference between solutions, colloids and suspensions?

  • Elements are pure substance consisting of one type of atom
  • Compounds are pure substances that can be separated into two or more elements
  • Mixtures are substances mixed together but not combined (like a salad, you dont morph carrots and lettuce together you just throw them in alongside each other)
  • Solutions are homogeneous mixtures composed of two or more substances where the solute is completely dissolved into the solvent
Suspensions are heterogeneous mixtures containing visible solid particles
Colloids are substances microscopically dispersed evenly throughout another substance
