An electric kettle rated at 220 V, 2.2 kW, works for 3 hours. Find the energy consumed and the current drawn.

Here potential difference(V) = 220V, Power (P) = 2.2kW = 2200W, time(t) = 3h

We know that


Electrical energy consumed = P × t = 2.2 ×3 = 6.6 kWh


We have, P = V x I


I = P/V


I = 2200/220


= 10amp
