Clarify the differences

Distance and displacement

i. Distance is a scalar quantity that refers to "how much length an object has covered" during its motion. And, displacement is a vector quantity that refers to "how far out of place an object is"; It is the object's overall change in position.


ii. It depends only on magnitude not on direction. Displacement depends on both magnitude as well as direction.
