Explain in detail the inter-relationship between the food chain and food web.

A food chain is a series of organisms in which one organism eats another. Through food chain nutrients and energy pass from one organism to another through food. In a food chain, some organisms are producers and some are consumers. Each organism in a food chain occupies a specific trophic level.


Food web is a network of many interconnected food chains. Food web is a more realistic representation of food relationships in ecosystems.
