Collect more information about Ferdinand Magellan’s voyage around the earth.

Ferdinand Magellan was a Portuguese explorer who set out for a long journey via sea to travel around the globe in 1519. This is considered to be first sea voyage in the history. In, childhood he listened to the stories of sea exploration which developed his interest in this. He started his journey from Spain to reach the spice island with five ships for the circumnavigation of the earth. There were total 270 sailors, of which 18 returned. In, his journey to reach the Spice Island, when asked for the help by Cebu, he fought against the Mactanese, and got shot with the poisonous arrow which killed him. He never made it to the spice island but in 1522 one ship full of spices reached Spain with 18 men. Thus, Ferdinand Magellan became the first European to cross the Pacific Ocean and credited for the mission of the first circumnavigation of the earth.
