What happens to the amount of energy transferred from one step to the next in a food chain? (AS1)

i. When there is a transfer of energy from one tropic level to another, only 10 % of energy gets transferred to the next trophic level.

ii. For example, when grass (producer) is eaten by a goat, only 10% of the total energy available to the grass is transferred to goat.
