Q4 of 33 Page 41

The sum of three consecutive natural numbers is 36. What are the numbers?

Let the three consecutive natural numbers be x,x + 1,x + 2.

Their sum = 36

x + x + 1 + x + 2 = 36

3x + 3 = 36

3x = 36-3

3x = 33

x = 11

Hence, the required three consecutive numbers are 11 ,11 + 1,11 + 2 = 11,12 and 13.
