A diverging mirror of radius of curvature 40 cm forms an image which is half the height of the object. Find the object and image positions.

Radius of curvature , R = 40 cm

F = R/2 = 40/2 = 20 cm


Magnification, m = 1/2


v/u = 1/2


such that u = 2v


Using the mirror formula,


Object distance = 20cm


And the image distance = 10cm
