What happens when hydrogen combines with oxygen in the presence of an electric current?

When hydrogen reacts with oxygen in the presence of an electric current, formation of water takes place which conducts electricity.

At the cathode, the electrons and the hydrogen ions combine with oxygen to make water.


The reaction takes place is given as:


2H2 + O2→ 2H2O
