Name the gas evolved when potassium nitrate crystals are heated with concentrated sulphuric acid.

When potassium nitrate (KNO3) crystals are heated with concentrated sulphuric acid (H2SO4) then vapours of nitric acid (HNO3) are evolved and potassium bisulphate is also formed.


KNO3 + H2SO4→ HNO3 + KHSO4
