Land use pattern refers to the way in which land is utilised to carry out various activities. Land can be used for agriculture, building houses and industry, pasture etc.

The factors that determine the use of land are as follows:

1. Availability of water- If there is an abundance of water around an area, people will use the land for agriculture.

2. Nutrients composition of land- If the land is fertile, it could be used for agriculture. Otherwise, it could be used for construction.

3. Climate of the area- Climate of the area suggests which kind of crops should be grown on the land.

4. Population density- If the population of the area is large then the land would be used for building houses.
