Write a short note on the Din-i-Ilahi.

Din-i Ilahi:

1. Din-i Ilahi was a system of religious beliefs proposed by the Mughal emperor Akbar in 1582 CE.

2. It was based on the teachings and beliefs of all the major religions.

3. The representatives of all major faiths met to discuss questions of faith at the Ibadat Khana.

4. Akbar felt that no one religion could capture all of the truth and so he combined those qualities in Din-i-Ilahi.

5. There was no compulsion in its acceptance, no reward, no punishment and no establishment of religious institutions.
