Q7 of 9 Page 234

From a circular card sheet of radius 14 cm, 2 circles of radius 3.5 cm and a rectangle of length 3cm and a breadth of 1 cm is removed. Find the area of the remaining sheet.

Area of 2 circles of radius 3.5 cm = 2 × π (3.5)2

= 77 cm2

Area of rectangular sheet = length × breadth = 3 × 1 = 3 cm2

Area of remaining sheet = area of circular sheet - (sum of area of 2 circular sheet of 3.5 radius and area of rectangular sheet)

area of remaining sheet = 616 – (77 + 3)

= 616 – 80

= 536 cm2
