Q2 of 16 Page 133

If the supplementary angle of an angle is four tines of its complementary angle. Find the value of the angle.

Let the angle be x.

We know that supplement of an angle is given by,

Supplement angle = 180 – x

Complement angle = 90 – x

According to the question, we have that supplementary angle is four times of its complementary angle. So, we get

Supplementary angle = 4 (complementary angle)

180 – x = 4 (90 – x)

180 – x = 360 – 4x

4x – x = 360 – 180

3x = 180

x = 60

Also, supplementary angle = (180° - x)

Supplementary angle = 180° - 60°

Supplementary angle = 120°

Complementary angle = 90° - 60°

Complementary angle = 30°

Thus, the angle is 60°.
