Explain why we should use fossil fuels only when necessary?

Fossil fuels are a non-renewable source of energy which means it takes millions of years to form them. If we will consumer them normally, they might get exploited. Thus to sustain their longevity and for the future generations to make it available, we must use them only when it is necessary.
