CO2 is a gas. Justify the given statement by two reasons.

CO2 exist as gas at normal room temperature can be justified by the following.

It has no fixed shape or volume.


It has large intermolecular space and can be compressed easily.


Explanation: -


This gas can be liquefied by applying pressure and reducing the temperature to bring gas molecules close to each other.


Solid carbon dioxide is called dry ice because on heating it does not melt but sublimes, i.e. on heating it directly changes into gas form. since there is no liquid form it must be dry.
