Why is it necessary to have secularism in India?

Secularism is an important part of Democracy and India being the largest democracy in the world, hence Secularism is important in India.

• As India has a vast ethnicity, several different communities and religious groups exist. So, it enables all the groups of religion to live together.


• As it is a part of democracy, it provides equality to all the religions.


• It prevents one religion from dominating over others.


• It also protects the rights of the religion that are in the minority
