The one end of drawing pin kept wide but the other end very sharp


We know,

With one end wide we can apply large force in a small area which helps the pin to pierce easily on the board with large pressure.


Again due to the large with on one end, the pressure applied on this results to be small and hence we don't injure ourselves.
