(i) Metals are sonorous. Metals make a sound when they are hit by some solid material.


(ii) Metal vibrate at a frequency and amplitude that can be heard without an excessive amount of applied energy.


(iii) Metals have high Q resonance. They sustain oscillations for a suitable period.


(iv) Metal is strong enough to be repeatedly played without damage.


(v) Though one can use wood but it will make a sound that can only be heard only for a few metres and hence is not used.
