Archaeological sources are the main sources for studying the Harappan civilization. Why?

There are basically two sources to study the History, mainly archaeological and literary. Archaeological sources include the – Ancient monuments (and its remaining structures), Inscriptions and coins.

They are the main source because –

1. There was no literary evidence available, and Harappan Script is still not deciphered

2. The Coins used to give us an idea about the metal used and advancement in technologies along with trade and commerce of the era

3. The remains of the Great bath, granaries, etc, reflect the patterns and use of burned bricks

4. The widespread use of Seals, Beads, etc in making terracotta, statues are significant sources of history. E.g., the Statue of Priest can be related to worshipping culture.

Thus, due to these factors, archaeology is the main source of Harrapan History.
