What were the Ashoka’s message to his subjects?

Ashoka was an Indian emperor who belonged to the Mauryan Dynasty. Ashoka gave various messages through the medium of his dhamma. Some of them are:

1. Compassion-filled treatment of all creatures.


2. One should neither praise his own religion, nor criticize someone else’s because both are wrong.


3. Elders should always be respected.


4. Behaving gently with slaves and servants.


5. Monks and Brahmins should be given gifts.
