Write a short paragraph on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

1. As a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, the father of our nation, Prime minister Narendra Modi launched the Swachch Bharat Abhiyan on 2^nd October 2014.

2. Our society strongly believes in keeping our homes or our living spaces clean, but seldom do we bother about keeping the public areas clean. Majority of the people do not even bother about what happens to the trash after it gets into the dustbin. Hence this initiative was launched with the aim of bringing awareness about keeping the public spaces clean and lay emphasis on good sanitation practices.

3. Some of the initiatives taken under this campaign include building community toilets, cleanliness drives, installing of bins, raising awareness on sanitation and waste disposal in rural areas, etc.

4. Since the launch of this campaign, it is clearly visible that not only the government appointed advocates of this campaign but the citizens have also taken a proactive role in participating and bringing a change in our society.

5. The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan will come to closure on 2^nd October 2019 as a tribute to Gandhiji’s 150^th birth anniversary.
