It is very difficult to reform politics through legal ways. Evaluate the statement.

The steps taken to reform the political parties:

a. The Constitution was amended, and changing party was made punishable as this would make the member lose their seat in the legislature. MPs and MLAs have to accept whatever the party leader decides.

b. The Supreme Court passed an order that every candidate had to give details of cases pending against them, to reduce the criminalization of politics.

c. The Election Commission has made mandatory for the political parties to file income tax, in order to curb the illegal influx of money.

Though these steps were taken, these have not been accepted by the parties yet. Too much regulation over the political parties could act counterproductively. The parties would be forced to cheat the laws made through illegal ways.
